Twenty five students from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon along with faculty members, Mr. Amit Narwal, Mr. Lokesh Kumar and Mr. P. C. Chokkar participated in an industrial visit to Whirlpool Ltd. in Faridabad on 21st November 2014.

Ms. Reena Aggarwal and Ms. Sweta from Public Relations Department of Whirlpool Ltd. welcomed the team. The students were demonstrated the different departments and workshops of the company that included the Press Shop and the Assembly Shop. The students were given a brief introduction about the three assembly plants in India at Faridabad, Pune and Pondicherry. The Faridabad plant was acquired from M/S KELVINATOR in 1995 and now it manufactures single door refrigerators of 175 liters to 210 liters in capacity. After this presentation they served cold drinks to all the students and faculty.

Students observed in the Press shop the machines were loaded for making body panels. Blanking and stamping operations were explained to students.

While going around the assembly shop students learnt about refrigerator assembly and also about the parts of a refrigerator like condenser coils, compressor unit and defrost system.

During the discussion session experts from Whirlpool Ltd. clarified the doubts of students.

The visit gave the student an in-depth knowledge regarding the working of large production houses with a specification to the refrigerator industry.
